Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has not given up his fight to reclaim  his seat

Obasa was removed as Speaker on January 13, 2025 by 32 lawmakers of  the 40-member House while he was away in the United States of America with the other members.
He was replaced  with Mojisola Lasbat Meranda as the new speaker.
However, on his return, Obasa declared his removal as illegal and has now dragged the House and Miranda before a Lagos High Court, demanding for his immediate reinstatement.
In the suit filed on Friday, February 14, Obasa is seeking an order of the court, nullifying his removal and restoring him as Speaker. He contended that the plenary session where his removal was decided was unconstitutional, not properly convened,  and outside legal procedures.

Obasa added that as at the time he was removed, the House was in recess and had not been reconvened, thereby rendering his removal a nullity. No date has been fixed for the hearing of the matter, as no judge has been assigned to it yet.
