Anambra intensifies crackdown on fake native doctors, seals Okija Shrine

The Anambra State government has continued its onslaught against fake native doctors and criminal activities in the state.

Consequently, the state government has  sealed a shrine in Umuofor village, Okija, in Ihiala Local Government Area.

The shrine was shut down, following numerous complaints from Okija residents against the alleged operator,

Ekene Igboegbueze, a self-proclaimed native doctor who reportedly promises unsuspecting individuals great riches.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Prince Ken Emeakai, the government’s action was necessitated by reports from the local community.“Igboegbueze’s business is illegal under Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.
“All items found in the shrine will undergo forensic examination, and the results will determine further government action,” Emeakai said.

He  added that also sealed were all properties acquired through the illicit trade have.

Chinenye Ihenko, the Director of Operations, Agunechemba Security Outfit,  warmed youths against patronising fake native doctors and clerics, adding that they should engage in legitimate ventures to avoid falling foul of the law.“The activities of fake spiritual leaders are fueling a get-rich-quick mentality in the state,” Ihenko said.

“Our mandate is to sanitize Anambra, and we are committed to that. Anything contributing to the desecration of the state or aiding criminal activities will be eradicated. That, we can assure the people.”
