A 20-year-old father has killed his eight-month-old daughter by running over her after an argument with his wife, the mother of the baby.
According to the police, the father, Justin Golden who is based in Florida, United States placed the infant in the middle of a busy intersection at Lenox and McDuff avenues in Jacksonville at around 11am on Saturday January 25 after he had an argument with his wife and mother of the child who was also in the car with him.
Following the argument, Justin brought the infant out of the car, placed her on the ground at the junction, drove back and ran over her.
‘The driver then began to leave the area and the vehicle struck the child, “said the police.
After the incident, Justin fled the scene, but was later located by the police and arrested He has been charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide and failing to render aid.
Efforts to rescue the baby by paramedics proved abortive as she was pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital.
A witness who saw the incident Markin Barnes, described it as tragedy.
According to him, he was at his nearby barbershop when he heard the scream of a woman, ran outside and saw the baby bleeding.
‘Now that I’m finding out the details, it’s even worse. Just the screaming, the people consoling her, you could tell it really was tragic. Especially with a kid being that young, it hits home,” he said.
The police have said they will.ensure the baby gets justice.
