The Umuezeala Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday, January 2, held the first edition of it annual thanksgiving service.
The service is supported by The Indigenous Pastors Network, some illustrious sons of the community, the Eze-in-council and some well-meaning God -loving individuals who extended support to the organisation.
The well-attended event has in attendance the traditional ruler of the town, Ogu Ugo 1 of Umuezeala Nsu, Eze Evaristus Iwuji, and his cabinet chiefs.
Also on ground are the organisers of the event, His Lordship Bishop David Nwachukwu, Rev. Dennis Kenkwo and many other leading ministers of God from the community, including Pst. Dickson Anyanwu and Rev. Steve Onyenehido, who were unavoidably absent.
Giving a background to the event, the Director of Indigenous Ministers Network of Umuezeala Nsu, Rev. Amarachi JohnMark Michael, said: “The thanksgiving service originated during one of our prayer and fasting meetings, which takes place every last Saturday of the month. During this meeting, the Eze of our community was present.
“The idea was divinely inspired in me and I shared my thoughts with the Eze after the prayer. Once I explained the concept, the Eze received the same revelation, which was welcomed as a positive development.
“Following this, discussions were held during the Indigenous Pastors meetings, and the idea was officially adopted by the Eze’s cabinet, establishing it as a tradition. Ultimately, it is solely God’s idea.”
He went further to highlight the reasons for the event
“The thanksgiving service is held because it aligns with God’s plan for His people. It is one of the fundamental traditions of the earth, designed to bring thanks to God, the Creator of humanity and the community. It has now become one of our respected traditions.
“Additionally, through its annual celebrations, various humanitarian outreach programmes aimed at community development will be incorporated.”
According to the Man of God: “We expect an experience where the leaders of our community and every citizen come together to offer prayers of thanksgiving. Each age grade will be represented, along with heads of clans, women, and children, all united in one voice to thank God for life and grace.”
Explaining the motive behind the Indigenous Pastors Association, Johnmark recounted how he was “directed by one of our patriarchs of faith, His Lordship Bishop David Nwachukwu, to create a WhatsApp platform. The purpose is to unite the leaders, who serve the believers in our community.
“Following several discussions, regarding the state of emergency within the Umuezeala Nsu Believers Union, we recognised the importance of bringing the indigenous ministers together in unity.
“We believe that the oneness of these ministers will be the driving force to reconnect and revitalise our beloved General Body of Believers in the community.”
The programme featured songs of praise and worship, prayers for all the indigenes of the community, and impactful ministration. A major achievement was the harvest of souls for the Kingdom as many people surrendered their lives to Jesus.
