Five pro-Biafra agitators we’re on Thursday acquitted of charges against them by an Abia State High Court sitting in Umuahia.
The judgment was delivered by Hon. Justice A.O. Chijioke, thereby ending the detainees’ protracted ordeal.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, confirmed the development at a press briefing in Owerri.
According to Ejiofor, the court held that the evidence of the three prosecution witnesses as insufficient to prove the charges against the accused and do set them free.
However, Ejiofor noted that the pursuit of self-determination was a legitimate and constitutional right and urged pro-Biafran agitators to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
