Prof. Babagana Zulum, the Borno State Governor, has blamed vested interests for the Federal Government’s failure to destroy the Boko Haram insurgents.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Zulum posited that some people, who are benefiting from the terrorists’ activities do not want it to end and are therefore, frustrating the Federal Government’s efforts to crush the insurgents.
He noted that people reaping financial benefits from the crisis don’t want it to end because ending the insecurity would result in economic losses to them.
The governor also observed that the Boko Haram groups who relocated to Chad due to the heat from the Nigerian troops have been flushed out from Chad are regrouping and returning to the country.
Zulum urged the people to unite and support the security operatives to deal the Boko Haram menace, which has ravaged the country, especially the North since early 2000s.
