Simon Ekpa, a separatist agitator and self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile was on Thursday reportedly arrested by Finnish authorities over alleged involvement in terror-related activities.
The Finnish-Nigerian was subsequently remanded in prison by the Päijät-Häme District Court on suspicion of public incitement and for allegedly spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.
The Central Criminal Police in Finland confirmed Ekpa’s arrest in a statement on its website on Thursday, adding that four other individuals were also arrested on suspicion of involvement with terrorist offences.
The police said the main suspect was arrested “on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent”, while the other four persons were arrested “for financing a terrorist crime”.
“Claims will be heard in Päijät-Häme district court today, November 21″, the statement added.
According to reports, the alleged offence was committed in 2021 in Lahti municipality, Finland.
Nigerians have repeatedly called for Ekpa’s arrest, following his recalcitrance and hateful outbursts.
Ekpa has been fingered in virtually all the violent and criminal acts in the South-east region, especially with the bloody enforcement of the Sit-At-Home order he imposed on the area, which has almost ruined the economic and social activities in the region.
