Blood again flowed in Abia State when rampaging gunmen attacked a police convoy in Umuahia South Council Area of Abia State, killing two policemen.
The incident, which took place in Ubakala, came barely four days after some gunmen also stormed a checkpoint and killed two soldiers in Ekenobizi, Umuopara Umuahia, near the Abia-Imo border.
In the he latest incident, the victims were policemen, who were attached to one of the federal lawmakers in the state.
They were reportedly traveling in a Toyota Corolla at about 9pm on Sunday when their convoy was attacked by the gunmen who disguised as policemen.
Police reports stated that the convoy had mistaken the gunmen for police officers but after identifying themselves as policemen, the gunmen opened fire on them while the officers also returned fire.
Unfortunately, two policemen were killed in the ensuing gun duel while the gunmen reportedly fled the scene, as policemen from nearby Ubakala Division responded with gunfire.
