Bandits have killed about 10 people, including women and a Chinese national, in Wayam and Belu-Belu villages in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, according to Sahara Reporters.
Residents reported that six of the victims were beheaded, with their heads taken by the attackers.
Many others who were injured were taken to a clinic in Kagara, the headquarters of Rafi LGA, as reported by Daily Trust.

The attack occurred around 5 am on Tuesday during the morning prayers. A local resident, Bala Tukur, stated, “In Wayam village near Madaka under Kagara town, they brutally killed 10 people and wounded many others. The manner of the killings is deeply traumatic. Everyone has fled.” He also mentioned that many farmers had been unable to harvest more than half of their crops, including maize.

In a similar situation, villagers in Kukoki had been forced to pay N1.5 million to harvest their crops, but the bandits returned shortly afterward. Local sources have reported an increase in attacks as farmers in Wushishi, Rafi, Shiroro, Mariga, and Kontagora LGAs began their harvests.

On Friday, bandits attacked Zungeru in Wushishi LGA, raiding homes and a hotel, and kidnapping the occupants. A resident of Zungeru confirmed, “Around midnight on Saturday, bandits stormed the town… they abducted Saidu Yakubu, known as Abacha, and his wife.”

In response, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi Mohammed, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, acknowledged the incidents, stating, “The Niger State Government is fully aware of the situation, and all relevant security agencies have been mobilized.”
