No fewer than 50 terrorists, including a high-ranking commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, Bashir Dauda, have been destroyed in a series of airstrikes by components of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF.
The NAF has said in a statement on Tuesday, October 32, 2024, it carried out successful air interdictions on three enclaves of the ISWAP terrorists in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.
The NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, disclosed that the strikes targeted known ISWAP strongholds in l Tumbun Daribiyar, Jubularam, Buluwa, and Tumbu Karfe villages.
An on-ground assessment of the attack after the aerial onslaught confirmed about 50 terrorists, including the ISWAP commander we’re killed.
“Additionally, an ISWAP supply depot in the Jubularam enclave, filled with a substantial cache of food and essential items like beans, millet, and rice, was destroyed, effectively severing a critical resource line for the terrorists,” Akinboyewa further revealed.
The NAF spokesman posited that the successful air strikes that zeroed in on personnel and logistics, indicated NAF’s unflinching determination to collaborate with ground forces in joint operations to destroy terrorist strongholds in the area.
