Lady found dead in Delta after visiting stranger she met on dating site

The lady, who was identified as 23-year-old Precious Yusuf, was said to have visited a male friend that she met on a dating website called iHappy.

Bright Edafe, the spokesman of the state police command, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that Yusuf’s body was discovered along the road on Thursday.

 The police were alerted and when they visited the scene, Yusuf’s body was recovered, and an investigation was launched to identify her.

The investigation found out that the deceased had on Tuesday told her friend that she was going to visit a man she had met on the iHappy dating site.

The friend reported not hearing from Yusuf again after she called her on Wednesday, saying she was returning home.

According to Edafe: “Preliminary investigations revealed that on October 22, 2024, she told her friend that she was going to see a male friend she met on the iHappy dating website. She left the house on October 22 to meet the young man at Coka.

“On October 23 at about 07:30 hours, she called her friend to say she was on her way home, and that was unfortunately the last time she made any contact, only for her body to be found the next day.

“The body has been deposited at the mortuary awaiting an autopsy. The Commissioner of Police for Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, assures members of the public, particularly the family of the deceased, that the investigation has commenced and also assures them of justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, therefore, urges young women to be mindful of the friends they socialise with and to exercise caution, particularly when dealing with people they meet on dating websites and other social media platforms.”
