Tinubu disengages five ministers, appoints seven more

 Bola Tinubu on Wednesday relieved five ministers in his cabinet of their appointment.

Among those affected was Tahir Mamman, who was lost his position as the minister of education.

Mamman stirred a storm recently with his controversial policy that aimed to bar students under 16 years from university admissions.

The other affected ministers are Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs; Lola Ade-John, the Minister of Tourism; Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development.

Their sack from Tinubu’s government was made known at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC.

A statement from the Presidency said:
“The president thanked the outgoing members of the Federal Executive Council for their service to the nation while wishing them the best in their future endeavours.

“He then charged the newly appointed ministers as well as their reassigned colleagues to see their appointment as a call to serve the nation.

“He added that all appointees must understand the administration’s eagerness and determination to set Nigeria on the path to irreversible growth and invest the best of their abilities into the actualisation of the government’s priorities.”

Ten ministers were reassigned to new portfolios.

The president also nominated seven new ministers, whose names would be sent to the senate for confirmation.
