Gunmen kill 25 in Niger, 2 in Kaduna, rustle cows, sheep

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Ijuwa Alawa community in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, killing 13 persons on their farms.

Akilu Isyaku, the council chairman, confirmed the killing in Minna, adding that the bandits shot nine of the victims to death while four others were killed at a different location on the same day.

The bandits reportedly targeted the community over allegations that members supplied intelligence to security agencies on bandits’ movements.

Meanwhile,Yakubu Garba, the Niger State Acting Governor,  described the attack as satanic and callous.

He condoled with the affected families, community members, and the entire people of Shiroro LGA over the unfortunate incident.

Also, suspected bandits stormed a mining site in Unguwar Magero village, Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, killing some people and kidnapping several others.

No fewer than 12 people reportedly died in the attack.

In a similar development, armed bandits killed two herders in Kachia Local Government Area and also rustled several cattle and sheep.

The two herders that died were resisting the bandits from taking away their livestock.
