Bomb explodes in Borno,  19 feared dead

 Nineteen persons were reportedly killed after an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, exploded in the Kawuri community, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The explosive device, which was suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents, also injured an unspecified number of people.

According to an anonymous source, the incident reportedly occurred at a local tea joint where the villagers gathered for a night rendezvous.

“Nobody can say exactly how it happened, but we suspected that the bomb was planted, not a suicide attack,” he disclosed.

“We saw corpses of 19 people with an unspecified number of civilians injured. The injured were evacuated to an undisclosed hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.” 

Several persons, including seven Nigerian soldiers, were killed 

in recent similar incidents.
