Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a former lawmaker in Delta State from right inside her church.
The victim, Joan Mrapkpor, who is fondly called ‘Ada Anioma’, is also a former Commissioner for Higher Education in the state.
The former member of the House of Representatives, was reportedly abducted during service inside her church close to police headquarters on DBS Road, Asaba, the state capital.
“We all ran due to the heavy gun shooting. It just happened about a few minutes ago, one aide shot dead and a security personnel unconscious now,” an eyewitness said.
Confirming the incident,SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Command spokesperson,
Speaking on the incident, the Police Spokesman said the Police Command was trailing the abductors.
He also confirmed the death of Mrapkpor’s police aide in the attack.
