A two-storey residential building located in Phase Two, Site Two in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory has collapsed.
The incident occurred at about 7am, trapping many residents, just a day after a similar incident in Jos Plateau State where a school building collapsed on 200 students and teachers.
The building is located beside the Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (Sultan Dasuki Way) in Kubwa.
It was formerly a hotel, Al-Hilal, before being converted into a hospital and later residential apartments.
Not much information is available as regards the tragedy. However, Nkechi Isa, the spokesperson for the FCT Emergency Management Agency, said their search and rescue team has rushed to the scene.
It was gathered, however, that the rescue efforts were hampered by the lack of cranes.
A few injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital and a few others escaped on their own but Security operatives could be seen, maintaining order and assisting in the rescue mission.
