The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday, struck out two appeals filed by former local government chairmen in the state, regarding their tenure.

The ex- LG bosses are reportedly loyalists of  former governor and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

They were challenging the decisions of the lower court in the matters of the elongation of their tenure.

However, the appellate court struck out the suit filed by Hon. Enyiada Cookey-Gam and six others, and marked CA/PH/137M/2024 and CA/PH/145M/2024, for lack of merit.

Governor Sim Fubara and Wike, his predecessor and godfather have engaged each other in a battle over who controls the state. The contention has torn the state into two hostile camps.
