As the build-up for the 2027 elections intensifies, several underground moves are going on in different parts of the country. That is even why there are defections from one party to another as politicians move to position themselves for the race ahead.
The same goes for the respective constituencies. Constituents are taking a keener interest in who represents them this time around. In Imo State in particular, people are no longer ready to flow with the tide and are determined to decide who their representative would be in the next dispensation.
This is especially so in the Okigwe Zone, where the constituents have got fed up with the lackluster representation in the zone. To this end, meetings are going on at the grassroots to brainstorm on who is best suited to represent the zone.
One common thread in the discussions is that almost everybody is fed up with the state of affairs in Okigwe Zone. They are clamouring for new direction that will usher in progressive development in Okigwe Zone.
In one such meeting held in Onuimo Local Government Area recently, under the aegis of the Transformation Youths Vanguard, members agreed to mobilise the youths of the area to actively participate in the electoral exercise. They decried the state of insecurity in Okigwe Zone, especially Okigwe, Onuimo, and Ehime Mbano Local Government Areas
The meeting, attended by the zonal youth and other youth leaders drawn from all the local government areas of the zone, included women leaders at the zonal and ward levels. They posited that the meeting is for the good of Okigwe, hence the need for a fresh face, as the people have grown tired of recycled politicians whose antecedents have scored poorly.
After a studious evaluation of likely contenders, all agreed that Attorney Charles Onyirimba is the most suitable choice to represent Okigwe Zone in the Senate in 2027.
They buttressed their choice by pointing out that Onyirimba has consistently shown that he has the people’s interest at heart. They considered the Attorney’s antecedents and concluded that there is no better candidate to represent the beleaguered zone in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
