Atsi Kefas, the 44-year-old younger sister of Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, has succumbed to gunshot injuries she sustained in an attack in Wukari Local Government Council of the state
The deceased reportedly died at a private hospital in Abuja, where she was being treated, following the attack in Kente village.
She had been transferred from the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari in the hope that she would receive better attention in the Abuja hospital.
There has been no clear reports with regard to the circumstances of the attack.
The confusing and contradictory blamed bandit while some point to likely accidental discharge from a security operative travelling with her.
However, Usman Abdullahi, the spokesperson of the state police command, said it was n armed robbery attack.
No official statement has been issued by the state government to clarify the matter, this fuelling widespread anxiety and apprehension over the recurrent attacks in the state.
