Local vigilance group routs bandits in Zamfara, kill several

Bandits operating in Zamfara State on Sunday suffered heavy casualties when local vigilance group killed several of them.

The bandits were said to have raided Unguwar Galadima, a community in  Maru Local Government Area to avenge the death of their leader, Sani Black, a notorious terrorist, who was killed by  vigilantes in September.
However, their mission was ill-fated, as they lost several of their members in a counter attack by the vigilante.
The local vigilantes promptly countered the attack, killing several bandits when they launched their their attack on the community at about round 5 a.m., as the residents  were getting set for dawn prayers
Two residents were injured during the clash but the remaining bandits fled, leaving behind 10 rifles that were recovered at the scene.

As the bandits retreated, they suffered more attacks from the troops stationed in the area, who also ambushed them and recovered several arms during the operation.

The spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, a joint military task force combating banditry in the region, Suleiman Omale,

was yet expected to issue a statement on the incident.
