NCC boosts media stakeholders with telecom up-skilling training

Media stakeholders were on Thursday, November 14, 2024 taken through a two-day training programme on telecom industry trends courtesy of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

The training, which was geared towards boosting participants’ skills in data journalism, news gathering, and understanding the telecom landscape, also featured insights from industry experts.

The first day was devoted to keeping participants abreast of trends, regulatory wdes, challenges, and prospects for consolidating the gains in the telecoms industry. It focused on issues, such as data journalism and visualisation, news gathering techniques, Nigerian Telecoms Industry overview, and much more.

The Director of Public Affairs, NCC, Reuben Muoka, stressed that the training was a commitment to transparency and collaboration with media partners, adding that the upscaling became necessary as an opportunity to provide media stakeholders with updated skills and knowledge of the industry, as partners involved in bridging the gap between the various stakeholders.

The programme dovetailed into an active discussions and Q&A sessions, which further reinforced the importance of informed reporting in the evolving telecom sector.
