Army arrests notorious bandit kingpin

Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, a notorious bandit kingpin, has been arrested by security operatives operating in Sokoto.
Confirming the incident, the Defence Headquarters disclosed that the capture capture of the bandit leader,  occurred in Rumji village, Illela Local Government Area of the state.

Habu Dogo was associated with violent cross-border crimes in between Nigeria and Niger Republic, including  killings and kidnappings for ransom.

He had been on the watch list of security agencies in both countries.

Major-General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media, announced the arrest, adding that it is part of broader, ongoing military operations across the country.

It is also a major victory for the region’s security efforts.

Buba noted that recent security operations, had resulted in the elimination of 187 terrorists and the rescue of 147 kidnapped victims.
