Operatives of the Imo State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, popularly known as Tiger Base, alongside some soldiers shot dead a member of a kidnapping gang during a gun battle in the state.
However, some of the hoodlums escaped with bullet wounds while four abducted victims, including a husband and wife, who were kidnapped last month, were equally rescued.
Henry Okoye, the spokesman of Public, the state police command, announced the development of his X handle on Saturday morning.
The operation to dismantle the syndicate in Ezioha, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state on October 4 followed credible intelligence.
Okoye disclosed that the gang members engaged the security operatives in a gunfight, resulting in the death of one of them while others escaped with various degrees of injuries. A vehicle was also recovered from them.
The vehicle recovered from the kidnappers, as posted by the Police PRO on Saturday.
“The operation led to the killing of one suspected kidnapper/terrorist and the rescue of four individuals abducted along Orlu Road on September 29, 2024. The rescued victims included Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Nwosu of Ohi in Mbaitoli Local Government Area and two others,” Okoye wrote.
