The Obowo Police Division in Obowo Council Area of Imo State was attacked by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in the killing of three security personnel.
Three police personnel lost their lives in two separate operations in two different locations.
It was gathered that the assailants also set a police station and the council headquarters ablaze.
The attack comes on the heels of a similar one at the Isiala Mbano Council Area secretariat, which was also razed down alongside some buildings.
A source narrated: “This young police officer was killed at the NEPA bus stop where he is residing. It happened by 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
“The gunmen came and spent more than forty-five minutes in that house. They took their time to identify who is a student and a police officer in that compound before killing him after identifying he was a police officer.”
Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, confirmed the incident, adding that the Command has deployed tactical teams to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
