Odion Ighalo, former Super Eagles striker, has spoken in sympathy with Super Eagles star player, Victor Osimhen after he failed to move away from his Italian club, Napoli, as he desired before the transfer window closed.

The development elicited mixed reactions from fans on the Internet, with several making scathing remarks about the player and his handlers.

However, Ighalo expressed rage against Nigerians over their comments on social media.

“No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life,” Ighalo wrote on X on Sunday morning.

“But seeing comments about this young man from his own country makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened.

“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he’s been treated, this young man plays with heart and pain for his country.

“Hmmm it’s well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn everyday in life. Happy New Month to y’all.”

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte, Napoli coach, has said he has no plans to reintegrate Osimhen, the reigning African Footballer of the year, into the Napoli squad for the 2024/2025 season.

In a post on Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Sunday, when asked about the Nigerian forward to be reintegrated at some point, Conte reportedly replied, “No player will be reintegrated. Those who are out of the project will remain out of the project. We made our choices and worked in one direction all together.”
