Commuters on the Gusau /Zaria Expressway had a harrowing experience on Monday as notorious bandits blocked the road and abducted an unspecified number of them.
The attack was recorded at about two kilometers away from Magazu village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It was gathered that for about 30 minutes, the bandits, who came in large numbers, operated and shot sporadically.
However, on being alerted, the Quick Response team of the Nigerian Army rushed to the scene with four trucks and chased away the armed bandits, who succeeded in escaping in the bush with some of the victims.
The bandits have been blocking roads on a daily basis, since the beginning of the farming season, attacking the farmers, killing or abducting some of them.
No official statement has been released by both the military and the police authorities in the state.
