Premium Times staff’s car riddled with bullets

Protesters at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday got a raw deal from security operatives, who dispersed them from the facility with gunshots.
The protesters had just reconvened after being dispersed by security agents deployed to the stadium when masked security operatives suspected to be personnel of the Department of State Services started shooting sporadically at them.
The protesters ran inside bushes around the stadium, with the security operatives in hot pursuit.
Some of the masked operatives went after the journalists who fled in any available vehicle, as the security operatives fired at them.
Bullets pierced a Premium Times reporter’s car in which he was fleeing to safety with some journalists from The PUNCH, The Cable, and Peoples Gazette.
The car was riddled with three bullet holes but thankfully, they could not penetrate to harm the journalists.
Also, a commuter vehicle’s glass was shattered with bullets.
A protester, identified as Zaye Michael, the Founder of Passion for Positive Change Initiative, alleged that soldiers attacked the protesters when they were holding a congress at the stadium on Saturday.
According to him, policemen and officers of the Department of State Services pulled back, making room for the soldiers to ambush them.
He claimed that they were trapped in multiple rounds of teargas canisters, which forced them to take cover in the bushes.
