Mizanmil Abubakar, a resident of Niger State, has given reasons he killed his biological father.
The 29-year-old committed the crime in the Barin-Sale area of Minna, the capital of Niger State.
He confessed to committing the patricide because of his hatred of the 65-year-old man.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, gave the details of the crime in a statement.
He disclosed that Kpakungu Police Division received information on July 29 about a certain Abubakar Adawa, who had gone missing.
He said: “Police operatives attached to the Division led by the DPO visited the house and invited Mizanmil Abubakar, 29, and Aisha Abubakar, mother and son, for interrogation.”
Abiodun added that the decapitated body of the missing man was found buried in a shallow grave within the compound after a thorough search.
During interrogation, Abubakar confessed to killing his late father because of hatred for him.
The suspect also claimed to have used a hoe to kill his father before decapitating his body in parts and then buried him in a shallow grave within the compound.
According to the police spokesperson the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.
