The Onyirimba–Ekurume–Ohaekelem campaign movement has continued to strengthen its grassroots presence in Ihitte-Uboma Local Government Area, following a strategic engagement with the people of Umuawuchi community.
The Friday meeting, coordinated by Chinonso Echewe, brought together community stakeholders and representatives of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) campaign team to communicate the vision of the three candidates and mobilise support for a new political direction in Okigwe Zone.
The delegation highlighted the leadership credentials of Attorney Charles Onyirimba, ADP senatorial candidate for Okigwe Zone; Hon. Sir Chima Okereke (Ekurume), House of Representatives candidate; and High Chief Raymond Ohaekelem, House of Assembly candidate. Although Ekurume was unable to attend because of another engagement in Mbano, where the Labour Party was reportedly collapsing into the ADP, his campaign team was fully represented. Ohaekelem’s Director-General was also in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Favour Nwelue, the Director-General of Onyirimba, urged the people not to allow financial inducements to compromise their political future. He observed that some incumbent representatives appeared to place excessive confidence in their financial resources, whereas the real power to determine the future of the zone rested with the electorate. He challenged the people to look beyond political propaganda and recognise the need for competent, accessible and development-driven leadership, particularly at a time when the rising cost of essential commodities continues to deepen household hardship.
He described the emergence of Onyirimba, Ekurume and Ohaekelem as a credible alternative to the prevailing political order in the zone, urging the people to remain united, courageous and steadfast. He also reminded them of the importance of faith, declaring that those who walk with God have everything.
In his vote of thanks, a community chief lamented the prolonged suffering of the people under the present political administration and expressed confidence in the emerging three-candidate alliance. He described the movement as a train already in motion, whose momentum would be difficult to halt.
Recalling the contribution of the late Stanford Onyirimba to the creation of Achinumo Autonomous Community, the chief expressed optimism that his you ger brother, Attorney Charles Onyirimba, would deliver even greater achievements for the people.
The Umuawuchi engagement reinforced the campaign’s grassroots mobilisation and its determination to take the message of political change to every community in Okigwe Zone.
The message is clear: Umuawuchi is being invited to join a movement built on credible alternatives, purposeful leadership and a new hope for Okigwe Zone and they responded positively.
